Candidates sought for TCIA Board of Directors
TCIA is seeking applicants for the position of at-large director on its Board of Directors for the term running 2022-2025. The two positions that will be open are for owners and/or employees of TCIA-member tree care companies. The at-large director position designated for a Corporate Member (entities that provide products and services to commercial tree care companies) is currently filled.
TCIA recently updated its nominations process, so please read the following information carefully.
Applying or recommending a candidate
If you are interested in being considered for the position of at-large director, please review the position’s Role & Responsibilities, TCIA’s Vision/Traction Organizer and our Conflict of Interest Policy before completing the online application. All three are available at elections.tcia.org.
If you wish to recommend an individual who you believe should apply, you may do so by sending his or her name, email address and a brief statement of why they should be considered to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All candidate applications must be complete and received by May 21, 2021, to be considered by the TCIA Nominations Committee.
TCIA’s membership includes a wide range of tree care businesses, and the Board of Directors should reflect that diversity. Successful candidates will be in alignment with the Board’s core values and may represent:
- a residential/commercial business from a major metropolitan area;
- a minority or women-owned business;
- a business with gross revenue between $1 million and $5 million;
- a company from the Midwest, and/or
- be a business owner or senior executive who is a member of Generation X or a Millennial.
Candidates are not required to meet all or any of these requirements in order to apply. The TCIA Nominations Committee, however, will be considering these criteria when nominating candidates.
Publishing of applicants’ information
In order to bring further transparency to the process, TCIA will be publishing the names of all applicants for director positions on its website and in the Reporter newsletter. This publication will include the applicant’s name, job title and company for which the applicant works along with a brief statement from the applicant. TCIA members may submit feedback about individual candidates to the Nominations Committee via email to email@example.com.
TCIA will accept applications through May 21, 2021. TCIA will then publish the list of candidates on its website from June 1 through August 30, 2021, and in the July/August edition of Reporter. The Nominations Committee will select candidates to interview based upon the initial applications and member feedback and conduct those interviews between September 8 and October 23, 2021. The Nominations Committee will then submit its nominations to the Board of Directors at its meeting on November 3, 2021. The Board will then transmit ballots, along with a statement explaining its recommended slate of candidates, to the membership, with a deadline to return ballots by December 31, 2021. Duly elected candidates will be sworn in and assume office at the TCIA Annual Business Meeting on January 31, 2022.
